in side my head

Ok, so I named this blog "random ramblings" for a reason and here they are for today.....

1. I must agree with husband and admit that Beyonce is freakin' hot in her new video "Put a Ring on It".....and I say that in the most heterosexual way......but she is hot...she has one of the nicest figures in music/hollywood and hse knows how to dress and show off her greatest asset, which is totally her ass...it is lucious....If she were to ring my door bell and ask to take marco away, i would totally let him go because she is totally hot.
2.
Why, when you are checking out at stores, do people never have their money/credit card out to pay...today i was at the express lane at the A and P..the checker was somewhat fast so the line was moving nicely...however, the TWO people in front of me totally slowed her down! The woman in front of me was just kind of standing there with a "DUH" look on her face and the cashier actually had to ask her to pay...then she took nearly a minute to rumage through her freakin' purse to look for her debit card....people, its not surprising that you have to PAY at a store....i dont understand...maybe this is the Jersey in me speaking, but its really annoying and wastes my time!! Move it along people!!!!
3. I am TOTALLY sick of people making snarky ( i love that word) comments that i dont cook....like i am a bad person and/or dont take care of marco....ok first off - look at marco and i---do we look like we are starving?!??! I think not. I take very good care of my husband, for all you old fashioned assholes out there (and he also takes good care of me) --I do his laundry, i clean the house, and I just got done making peanut butter cookies for him ( i do, incidently like to bake). Secondly, why the fuck does it bother people so much?!? So i havent cooked dinner since June 29th...(witht he exception of the ziti I made for work , the water i had to boil for my dogs when we had the water main break, and the pineapple souffle for thansgiving) .who is it bothering? I DONT LIKE TO COOK!!! I DREAD IT!!!! I dont even like to eat the food i do cook, so why would i do something i dont like and wont eat (and yes i realize that whole "not eating stuff I cook" thing is quirky, but i AM quirky)?! I dont think people realize but i do not sit on my butt all day at work ...i am on my feet lifting and moving people for 7 and half hours a day and ,at times, these people can puke/piss/poop on me...i certainly do NOT feel like going home to prepare a meal...not my thing. THIRDLY - for all you people who are like "ohhhhh---you would save so much money....blah blah blah blah"......why do you care whta i do with my money...there are many people I know who throw their money in the trash and people are afraid to say anything to them about their money management skills..... my mortgage is paid, my school loan is paid my car loan is paid, i have clothing, i dont have young children to feed/clothes, provide for, and my heat/electricity/water is still on....I make sure my niece is well-nourished and i feed/clothe/provide for her on a regular basis....yes i will admit, it does get slightly pricy, but hey - i dont smoke, i dont drink, i dont wear makeup, i dont use hair products, I dont get regular hair cuts or manicure or dye my hair, i dont carry a fancy purse OR wallet, i dont wear designer clothing and/or shoes---so, if eating out and not cooking is what i want to do, i am going to do it...its my vice. And sadly enough, we do have it down to a science....we can eat out most nights for under 20 bucks....we can eat under 10 bucks if its Paulo's (does any one know if their dining room is open yet?)
Now , I will be cooking for christmas eve, so my lovely pots and pans will get utilized...and i do bake every so often, so my oven doesnt feel lonely.......so if you are worried, dont be..I love you all anyway.....hehhe...sorry for that rant...wow, now i feel better!

4. I cant wait for it to snow...i cant believe i am even typing that...not a major snow, but a nice 2 inches, just to make everything look pretty! I love the holidays, and always have, and i feel like it would be so pretty and awesome if it snowed a little bit...a nice christmas snow!

ok, i am done....i am going to read my book before we head off for an early dinner (at the outback, in case you are wondering....)

pre-thanksgiving shopping

SO I think marco and I found a really great shopping trick....

I had rad somewhere that Kohls was having their midnight madness sale today...however it wasnt advertised...when you look at their website, there are adds for opening at 4am (!!!!!) on Friday, but made no mention that Kohls was open to midnight.

MArco and I went to KOhls to see what we could find and found out that ALL of the 4 am sales for Friday were actaully in effect for tonight after 6 oclock....o we were shopping in KOhls until abot 1030 this evening ---AND THE STORE WAS EMPTY!! It was fabulous!!!! I wonder how many other stores offer this?!

So no bloack friday for me (i was actaully thinking of stopping at Kohls BEFOE work on Friday!)

I hope every has a really nice thansgiving!!! This is one of my favorite holidays! There is so much to be thankful for this year!!

Nebraska...its actually a cool state

I have nothing to blog about.....i do not rubber stamp or do craft shit....my sarcasm has been somewhat dampened because i actaully enjoy my job and am somewhat happy in life (afraid to say that)....I am boring.
Marco says I should blog about him because he moved the poker table out of my dining room....after 2 months....or how i finally cleaned our room tonight (it was gross)....or how marco hung up a shower curtain for me.
yes my life is boring...busy, but boring....
I think that may be a good thing.

btw, check out chris's blog.....the drums have died a slow and painful death...so sad..

anyway, im babbling.

Although, I did want to comment on an interesting news story I caught...i may get myself in trouble for this, but i dont really fucking care.
So Nebraska passed a safe haven law, in which people could surrender their unwanted children to hospitals/police station if they are unable to care fo them with out a penalty.....many other states have this law...well, nebraska forgot to put an age limit on this law...so out of the 35 children surrendered, only SIX of them were under the age of 10!!!! People were flying form out of state (i.e. georgia, florida) to dump their unwanted teenagers!!!! How insane is that???!?!?!

....thats what I was thinking...and then i realized that this phenomena actually occured in my own family......marco and i are nebraska......talk amoungst yourselves.....

Happy Veteran's Day

So usually I am a sarcastic asshole in my blogs....is just who i am...and believe me i have plenty to be a sarcastic asshole about....however, I just read my friend Amy's blog, which typically is very thoughtful and introspective (with the exception of the trumpet teach stuff, which is just funny) and she posted a fitting tribute for Veterans Day and her grandfather, who incidentally, is one of the sweetest, cutest, nicest guys i have ever met (as is the rest of Amy's family).
It got me thinking of my grandfather Thompson and his service in the Navy. Now, my grandparents were slightly younger when the "War" started but my grandfather graduated high school and entered the navy in 1946, at the tail end of the war. He got 2 weeks leave soon after he entered the service and came back to Jersey City (the thompson/keegan homeland) to marry my grandmother, his high school sweetheart, after he gave her 3 weeks notice.
In the navy, my grandfather was a radio/radar man and was assigned to several ships, including the USS McKinley and the USS Iowa. Soon after, his naval position posted them in San Diego, where my grandmother rode to alone by bus, 3 months pregnant and "puking all across the United states" as she put it. (it was actually funny---we used to talk about US landmarks like the painted desert and she would be like "yeah i threw up there"....gotta love my grandmother)
During his service, his ship was sent to the atmoic bomb testing at Bikini island. He was present for 3 of the atomic bomb tests, two of which he was underneath the deck, However, he was on deck for one of the tests, where they were mearly told to "turn " their back and "close" their eyes to protect themself from the blast. My grandfather often recounted that he wound up with a second-degree sunburn through his clothing. He also used to recount how part of the ship he was on was "closed" for the remainder of his tour of duty because it was radio active....and then it remained radio active for many months after..
Later on in life, my grandfather became a sickly man at a young age and had chronic heart failure, which led to his early death in the late 1980's. It turned out that many of the servicemen present at the time of the testing(including my Aunt linda's dad, who was acatually send on the radio active "dummie" ships to see what happened to the experimental animals on them) had similar symptoms and ailments to my grandfather and it turned in to an agent orange/gulf war syndrome trend, whch the government pushed under the table, as they do so so well.
I always found it interesting that although his service in the navy had made him so ill for much of his life, he always spoke fondly and proudly of his time in the navy. He even saved a memorial booklet from that tour of duty (i have it---its cool). He was a really funny guy with a somewhat dry sense of humor. He would proudly wear his USS Iowa and USS McKinley ball caps and never missed an Army/ Navy game. He used to talk about ths Bikini Island testing and would always tell us the one thing he learned from that experience was that if an atomic bomb was dropped the only thing you could really do is bend over and kiss you ass good bye...and then he would laugh.....as he always did.
So, happy veterans day to all and thanks to BOTH of my grandfathers for their service....and thank you grandpa T for your sense of humor...its what i remember the most about him...
